What's a “Little” Art Between Friends...
Circa 2007 my husband and I were living in a dark underground apartment in Alexandria Va. We had just started our own land surveying company and we were spending all our time in that small dark apartment with only two windows and those were shaded by tall pine trees. I was craving human interaction. I needed to get out and make friends. I found a listing for a local book club. Long story short that book club was filled with the most amazing people. One of those amazing humans I am proud to say I am still in contact with even though my life events have taken me nearly 80 miles and a mountain away. T. J. Butler is one classy lady whom I am proud to call friend.
Tiffany is a writer, wife, dog mom and tiny house resident. Over the years of our friendship I watched as she made the transition to living in a tiny space and I have to say that I feel it suits her soul completely. When you see a friend thriving and living her best life you want nothing more than to help celebrate that.

Read about Sylvie and Tiny Living
For some time I wanted to make a little something special for Tiffany. We may only live an hour and a half away but it might as well be light years. She lives on a sailboat and I live on a mountain. Though we haven’t seen each other in person for years we still remain in contact. Reaching out and encouraging one another in low moments and celebrating one another’s accomplishments.
This is the photo that inspired it all.
When your friend lives in a tiny home anything you get her needs to be either tiny or multipurpose. Ideally it should be both if possible! And that my friends is totally my jam. Im all about all things tiny!
This is how Sylvie came to be painted into a pendant.
A tiny oil painting of Sylvie inside a hand crafted wooden pendant, sealed under epoxy resin to protect it for as long as it exists. Precious yet tough. This portrait can either be worn as a necklace, hung on a wall as tiny art, used as a charm or on a book mark string in a journal or even placed on a keyring.
I am told that Sylvie approves of her likeness which is truly the best compliment an artist could ever receive.

Annual Spring Violet Lemonade..
Every Spring our yard and fields fill with wild violets. These amazingly deep purple flowers are not only gorgeous but they are also edible. We pick these delectable flowers for the purpose of making violet simple syrup in order to make the most amazing lemonade your eye’s will ever behold and your tongue will ever taste. When we have an abundance of violets like this year we make as much violet simple syrup as we can for use in leaner times. We take a large mason jar and stuff it as full as we can. We then add boiling water and steep overnight. You then strain and measure how much liquid you have. Using that measurement I make simple syrup (equal parts violet water and sugar).
